The classic definition of art that it is “a piece of reality seen through an artist’s temperament” fits exactly on Tina Tramps works. She observes she interprets and she conveys her love of life, form and nature. She sets her subjectivity in motion while she is creating what she senses in the moment. For it is basically the only reliable guide, as a human being and an artist she can use.

It is the danish author Nørretranders who once described consciousness as the top small tip of all the sensations and impressions flowing through man. Our senses and what they receive, is far larger and more comprehensive than our consciousness can ever manage to record, comprehend and process. But the many influences become layers in our bodily system and leaves tracks.

Therefore, Tina Tramps life in close symbiosis with nature obviously has great influence on her work. Perhaps we could – with the french writer Antoine De Saint-Exupery say – “Only with the heart can one see. The essential is invisible to the eye”. The quotation fits well with Tina Tramps artistic universe, she continually tries to portray, transform and vizualize the energy of everything in the unseen, all the hidden and secretive energy-flows of natures forms and its diversity.

Her works are in this sense hints, moods and fragments. Her work tell us that there is always something that is greater than ourselves. That nothing is what it seems to be. And one must mention her vibrant color themes. Her works glow with poetic softness and sharp color angles that sounds like music. Moving into her artistic universe is like embracing life itself.

Man is a landscape. The landscape is human. Nature is a whole. Life is a wonderful gift. Such thoughts come to mind when you get caught by Tina Tramps artistic universe.

MY WHY ........

My mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one assemblage one exhibition at a time and to continually create handbuilt stoneware assemblages infused with my spirit.

I am being formed by the clay. I am reconnecting with the earth, and with the other basic elements, too — air, water, fire — and life itself. Working with clay is so tactile and tangible, so immediate. Every gesture leaves its trail in the clay. Every fingerprint, a message. My breath fills the cavity. My touch curves the wall of a vessel. And inwardly, I am being formed by the outward practice. I am learning to trust the process, to lean into the possibilities rather than strive for some predetermined goal. I am being hollowed out, stretched and constricted, trimmed and sometimes reworked entirely.

I am a student of life and each day life teaches me about the web that connects us to earth and air and water; about awakening and breathing; about touch and staying centered; about the playfulness of choices and about the crucible of transformation.

I AM:
GROUNDING— connecting with the basic elements KNEADING— awakening to the inner realm CENTERING— engaging in a dialogue of self discovery SHAPING— dealing with inner and outer pressures FINISHING— trimming away the excess DECORATING— adding my soulful touch FIRING— committing to transformation.

I have found that transition always begins with endings, moving on to a wilderness period of testing and trying, and only then do I reach the beginning of something new. I can then embrace this encore period of life with hope and curiosity, remembering always that it is my true nature to be creative, to be always birthing new ways of sharing my creativity. Working with clay is a way to get my hands dirty and my mind clear. To reclaim an elemental sense of connection with the earth itself bringing me home to by body. To express my soul's longing for life. To reclaim the sacred act of creation as essential to my wholeness.

This is my soulwork in clay.
